Dotfiles in a Workspace

Devsy can clone your dotfiles repository into a workspace and install it, so your shell and tool settings are there every time.

Pass the repository with --dotfiles:

devsy workspace up https://github.com/example/repo --dotfiles https://github.com/my-user/my-dotfiles-repo

Devsy then looks in the repository for one of these install scripts and runs the first it finds:

• install.sh, install
• bootstrap.sh, bootstrap, script/bootstrap
• setup.sh, setup, setup/setup

If there is none, Devsy links every hidden file (names starting with .) into the container's $HOME.

To run a different script, name it:

devsy workspace up https://github.com/example/repo --dotfiles https://github.com/my-user/my-dotfiles-repo --dotfiles-script custom/location/install.sh

Set the options on the context so every new workspace uses them:

devsy context set -o DOTFILES_URL=https://github.com/my-user/my-dotfiles-repo -o DOTFILES_SCRIPT=bin/install.sh
